A huge thank you to the families and students of Reidy House at St Joseph's College Gregory Terrace for their incredible support once again through their annual Lenten Appeal! Together, they raised $1,195 to help restock our Youth Support Centre pantry with food and provide emergency relief like personal care items, sleeping bags and phone credit. We’re so grateful for the ongoing support of the Reidy House community. On Wednesday, we attended Micah Projects' annual Candle Lighting Vigil, held on National Domestic Violence Remembrance Day. We gathered to honour the lives lost to domestic and family violence and to stand in solidarity with survivors. In Australia, at least one woman is killed every week by an intimate partner. Children are also victims in these homicides. These deaths are preventable, but only if we act. Minister for Families, Seniors and Disability Services and Minister for Child Safety and the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, Amanda Camm MP, spoke about the urgent need to prioritise young people experiencing domestic and family violence – to stop the cycle before it continues. We look forward to continuing these conversations and exploring how we work together to deliver real change. Everyone deserves a future free from violence and homelessness.
