Future Energy Exports CRC Limited

Overview

Future Energy Exports CRC Limited (FEnEx CRC) is a non-profit organization based in Australia, focused on the decarbonization of liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports and the development of hydrogen as a critical component of Australia's energy future. The organization is part of a national collaboration involving multiple industry, government, and research partners.

Objectives

The primary objectives of FEnEx CRC include:

  • Decarbonization of LNG Exports: To reduce the carbon footprint associated with LNG exports by exploring new technologies and methods.
  • Hydrogen Development: FEnEx CRC aims to develop cost-effective, safe hydrogen liquefaction technologies. This involves optimizing refrigerants and plant designs to support both domestic and global hydrogen supply chains[4].

Partnerships

FEnEx CRC operates as a collaborative entity, engaging with a diverse group of partners. Among its partners are:

  • Industry Partners: Global energy companies like Chevron, hydrogen companies such as ITM Power, and mining companies including Mineral Resources.
  • Research Partners: Australian universities such as the University of Western Australia, Curtin University, Queensland University of Technology, University of South Australia, and Swinburne University.
  • Government Support: The organization receives backing from the Western Australian State Government[5].

Activities

FEnEx CRC is involved in several activities designed to achieve its goals:

  • Research and Development: Conducting high-level research to improve the efficiency and sustainability of energy exports.
  • Education and Training: Implementing programs to educate and train professionals in the energy sector on new technologies and sustainable practices[5].

Mission

The overarching mission of FEnEx CRC is to future-proof Australia's energy exports industry by transitioning towards cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions. This involves creating an environment where new technologies can be developed and implemented effectively for the benefit of both the industry and the environment[2][3].
