🏙️ A Big Week for Co-operative Housing in Melbourne! The Co-operation Housing team has just returned from a busy and inspiring visit to Melbourne, where we attended the Australian Co-operative Housing Alliance (ACHA) Summit and connected with co-op housing champions from across the country. 💬 At the summit, we proudly shared the story of the Kyloring Housing Co-operative — a community-led, sustainability-focused development that's breaking new ground in WA. 🎥 The event also marked the launch of a new national video about co-operative housing, capturing the values, benefits, and real-life stories that make this model so powerful. 🏢 We toured a housing co-operative apartment building, giving us fresh inspiration for what's possible in urban environments. 🤝 In true “co-operation among co-operatives” spirit, we met with our sister organisation CEHL (Common Equity Housing Limited) to exchange knowledge, ideas, and practical approaches to growing the sector. 👥 Our trip also included: ✔️ Networking with researchers, developers, and local government officers ✔️ Conversations with politicians — great to see strong interest from those in a position to enable policy and funding support ✔️ A productive ACHA meeting, where a key focus was how we can expand co-operative housing to not only serve social and affordable needs, but also address the "missing middle" — people who earn too much for public housing but not enough to buy a home or avoid housing stress. 🌱 We left energised and even more committed to growing co-operative housing as a viable, inclusive and sustainable model for the future of Australian housing. #CooperativeHousing #ACHA2025 #HousingJustice #MissingMiddle #AffordableHousing #Kyloring #CEHL #CooperationAmongCooperatives #CommunityLedHousing #HousingForAll #SustainableLiving #CooperationHousing #HousingSummit2025 #CoHousingAustralia #CooperativeFuture (fb)
