Overview

Fnq Independent Living Support Association Inc, commonly referred to as ILSA, is a non-profit community organisation based in Queensland, Australia. Established in 1997, the organisation was initially formed by a group of individuals living with disabilities who sought greater control over their support services.

Mission and Activities

ILSA is dedicated to providing in-home and community support services for individuals aged 65 and over who are eligible for Home Care services, as well as people living with disabilities. The organisation offers a range of support activities, including:

• NDIS Support: Providing services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme to facilitate independent living for people with disabilities.
• Aged Care Support: Offering support services to elderly individuals eligible for Home Care funding.
• Daily Self-Care and Domestic Activities: Assisting with daily living tasks such as personal care, household chores, and cleaning.
• Community Participation: Facilitating involvement in community and civic activities.
• Garden and Lawn Care: Assisting with outdoor maintenance tasks.

Organisational Structure

ILSA is accredited with major Australian health and disability frameworks, including the NDIS, NIISQ, and My Aged Care. It operates with a client-focused approach, allowing service users to have significant control over their support arrangements. The organisation is managed by its members, who are either people with disabilities themselves, family members of service users, or direct service users. This governance model ensures that services are tailored to meet individual needs effectively.

Objectives

Funding

As a registered charity, ILSA welcomes donations to enhance its support services. These donations help provide access to equipment and activities that might otherwise be unaffordable, contributing to the organisation's goal of supporting independent living for all its clients. All donations are acknowledged with a receipt for tax purposes.
