Hi friends. It is Lucas here, checking in to remind you that today is IDAHOBIT, also known as International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia and Transphobia. Did you know that in 1990, the World Health Organisation decided that it would no longer classify homosexuality as a mental illness. From there, IDAHOBIT has been celebrated annually, on May 17th. A lot has changed for me since the night I came out to my mother as gay a few years ago. I have found acceptance from friends and family, but there are still many who unfortunately still live in fear because of who they are, and who they’re attracted to. Everyone deserves the right to live freely, regardless of sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, and sex characteristics. Wouldn’t you agree?
