When it comes to paediatric palliative care, the plan isn’t just about preparing for the end, it’s about making the most of every moment while you still can. If we could have our time again with our gorgeous boy Hunter, I would have said YES to palliative care sooner. I didn't understand what Paediatric Palliative care meant for kids. I thought it was only about losing our son — but what we received was so much more. For us it was nearly 3 years of support, guidance, compassion and an opportunity to create memories we will treasure forever. Paediatric palliative care is about giving children the best quality of life possible, and supporting families through some of the hardest, most heartbreaking decisions they'll ever face. There is no hospice in South Australia, no specific ward at the hospital... so that means the families we support are predominantly caring for their palliative child at home. So while at HAS Foundation, we do raise funds to support these families, our real mission is to raise awareness about what paediatric palliative care truly means. 💛 It’s comfort. 💛 It’s connection. 💛 It’s memory-making. 💛 It’s not giving up — it’s holding on to what matters most.
