PRIMARY GRANDPARENTS MORNING | Last week we welcomed the grandparents of our Primary students to the College for a very heart-warming event. A concert comprising of songs, poems and recitation of bible verses was performed for the assembled grandparents, followed by a shared morning tea. Students then welcomed grandparents to tour their classrooms, to see some of the activities and projects the students have been working on, and to join in their learning. Thank you to all grandparents who attended the morning - it was a beautiful display of the special bond between grandparents and grandchildren. (fb)

YEAR 12 NIGHTINGALE WEEK | At TCC, we want our graduates to step into the world with eyes open to the needs around them, ready to serve with compassion and purpose. Nightingale Week is one of four milestone events leading to graduation, inviting Year 12 students to reflect on the legacy of Florence Nightingale — a woman who saw suffering and responded with courage, care, and conviction. The week began with a stirring talk by motivational speaker, and TCC alumnus, Az Hamilton, whose powerful storytelling and real-life experiences—both overseas and in local Australian communities—captivated and inspired students. Az’s message challenged them to live a life filled with purpose and passion, encouraging them to think beyond themselves. That evening, students took part in presentations by St Vincent de Paul and @Rosies - Friends On The Street staff. This was followed by the humbling experience of sleeping in cardboard boxes at school for the night. This symbolic act of "sleeping rough" was designed to raise awareness and build empathy for those facing homelessness. With this foundation, students then served across a range of settings, including Base Services - The Basement Soup Kitchen, the Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul Society, Rosies street van crew, aged care facilities and special schools. These hands-on experiences opened their eyes to the everyday struggles of others and encouraged them to consider how they might use their gifts and time to contribute meaningfully to their communities. Nightingale Week wasn’t just a camp—it was a powerful reminder that when young people are given the opportunity to serve, listen, and reflect, they can become empathetic, thoughtful leaders of tomorrow.
