This Monday, our Toastmaster of the Day masterfully guided us through the theme of "Make a Choice." She kicked off the evening by sharing a stunning fact: on average, we each make about 35,000 decisions every single day. From the simple morning choice of what to wear to more complex life decisions, we are constantly navigating a sea of options. To bring the theme to life, she creatively asked each participant on stage to make a simple choice and justify it. This led to some fun and revealing moments: 1. Our Timekeeper, Lana, when asked to choose between coffee and tea, declared her unwavering loyalty to coffee, stating, "Always. It is better. I cannot function without it." 2. Our Grammarian, Natalia, chose the TV show "Friends" over "The Big Bang Theory," explaining simply that she's been watching it for longer as it's an older show. 3. Our Icebreaker speaker, Sophie, when faced with a choice between a Prosecco and a beer, humorously rejected both due to allergies and declared her preference for Prosecco because "it tastes better." Our speakers and role-players once again demonstrated that practicing public speaking is a powerful tool for personal discovery. Here are a few highlights from our evening: Moment of fun: Ondřej Šoupal Andre shared a pitchy joke about the perks of laziness for achieving maximum efficiency. On discovering he’d forgotten to turn his work phone on for a whole week, his first thought wasn't that he'd made a mistake, but simply that "the world is just getting better." A true master of passive problem-filtering. Moment of learning: Yan Borsky During an evaluation, Yan gave a piece of practical advice for any speaker: use the stage. He noted that moving around the space and taking a few steps in different directions to emphasize points can make a speech more dynamic and create a stronger connection with the audience.
