Refuge & Hope helps urban refugees in Kampala, Uganda rebuild their lives and realize their potential so they can thrive in Kampala and beyond. Refuge and Hope International is a faith-based organization working to empower Urban refugees in Kampala, Uganda with educational, professional and personal development opportunities so they can rebuild their lives and realize self-sufficiency in Uganda, back in their home countries, or wherever they go. Our ministry is located in a heavily refugee-populated area of the city and serves refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), South Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, Sudan, Burundi, Ethiopia and Rwanda.Our educational facility, The Center of Hope, is a safe learning environment where refugees from multiple nationalities, tribes and languages come together to learn English (the official language of Uganda) Bible, computer and other important life skills. We also offer a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Program for youth desiring to earn an internationally recognized high school diploma.We also have a Women's Rehabilitation & Empowerment Program for young women who've been traumatized, abused or who are especially vulnerable to exploitation. The aim of this initiative is to provide a safe place for them to experience healing, restoration and empowerment. The three-month program offers temporary safe shelter, counselling and discipleship, along with educational, vocational, business and leadership training opportunities. We empower adult refugees to achieve financial independence through our Practical Skills and Entrepreneur Training Programs where they receive experiential training in areas like IT, tailoring and cooking, as well as business training so they can find employment opportunities or build sustainable businesses of their own. Our youth leadership program combines Biblical teachings with personal development and leadership training to prepare youth for a lifetime of success and self-sufficiency.All Refuge and Hope beneficiaries have access to counselling and spiritual support programs designed to help them reconcile their pasts so they can rewrite their futures. We also have a fully staffed social work team to minister to refugee families and individuals in crisis situations. As a faith-based organization, we're in a unique position to bring the hope and healing found in Christ to hundreds of people who have experienced trauma or have not had the opportunity to learn about Jesus. Our curriculum includes Bible classes. Students interested in learning more can participate in one of several Christian Bible studies
