Furnishing Hope partners with other non-profit organizations and Military Family Readiness Officers to identify and serve its recipients. Unlike some similar organizations, Furnishing Hope does not accept used furniture donations but instead receives support from furniture manufacturers, retailers, and designers to provide new items.
Furnishing Process
On what is referred to as an "installation day," volunteers work to set up the newly furnished homes. This process includes moving in furniture, making beds, unpacking accessories, washing and organizing kitchen supplies, and more. Recipients receive a comprehensive package that includes a sofa, recliner, dining table, bedroom sets for adults and children, kitchen setups, and bed and bath essentials, effectively turning an empty house into a fully functional home.

In previous years, Furnishing Hope has primarily relied on contributions, which constitute nearly all of its revenue. The organization's expenses are typically managed without extensive fundraising fees, reflecting its focus on allocating resources directly to its mission.

We had the privilege of furnishing the home of Marine Corps veteran Mario Sibrian. 🇺🇸 Mario served five years in the U.S. Marine Corps, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, where he was injured by IEDs during combat. Now retired from active duty, he continues to serve his community as the Director of Programs at a nonprofit organization that supports foster youth. Meet Mr. Dawson, a proud U.S. Army veteran who served from 1988 to 1991 as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle mechanic. During his military service, he was awarded the Army Service Ribbon and the Army Achievement Medal and qualified as a sharpshooter with both the rifle and grenade component bar. Due to his disability, he has faced significant challenges, and life after service hasn’t been easy. For years, Mr. Dawson lived in his apartment with just a bed and mattress, never able to furnish his space. Thanks to a referral from L.A. Care and a conversation with our founder, Beth Phillips, Mr. Dawson received essential furnishings today, turning his empty apartment into a true home. 🏡 We’re proud to support veterans like Mr. Dawson and help bring dignity, comfort, and hope into their homes. 🇺🇸 #furnishinghope -- (fb)
