Please consider making a donation: Donations to aid tornado victims can be easily made online through the “Tappahannock Tornado Relief Fund,” established by the Tappahannock Rotary Club, with 100% of all donations being promptly passed on to the Essex County Department of Social Services (EDSS). Simply use your web browser to go to: “www.HelpEssex.com” and complete the online donation form using a credit card or Paypal. (The link also has an address where checks can be mailed as an alternative to making the donation by credit card.) Funds are being channeled through EDSS because it is the only organization that has trained local professionals to process aid applications and to provide funds for housing, food, clothing, medical, child care, counseling, and any other needs victims have and to do so both immediately and over the longer term. Its administrative and overhead costs are already paid for by county, federal and state grants so 100% of the donations will be used for victims. EDSS is in the best position to get help to those who need it most, especially those with little or no insurance, and it is already fully integrated into the County government’s rescue operation.
