Natalie is an 8 year old little girl with a big personality diagnosed with ataxic cerebral palsy and brain stem atrophy. She loves music, “playing” the guitar and being outside! Due to her diagnoses, she presents with balance and motor planning impairments making overall gross motor skills difficult and sometimes unsafe. Natalie has a great attitude and a good work ethic and her family diligently attend weekly therapy sessions with the ultimate goal to help increase her participation in recreational activities! Her therapist and her family came to us requesting a highly customized adaptive bike that will not only allow Natalie and her family the opportunity to safely enjoy biking together, but will also work on improving Natalie’s overall muscle strength, balance, endurance and circulation. Unfortunately the cost of this bike is financially just too out of reach for this family but at the High Hopes Foundation we are happy to help!! (fb)

Max is a very happy 13 year old boy who has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Hypotonia, and Macrocephaly. As a result of his diagnoses, Max experiences a variety of challenges related to motor skills, coordination, strength and sensory processing, all of which significantly impact his ability to participate in typical physical activities. He receives physical therapy services twice a week and occupational therapy twice monthly where he works hard on improving his motor skills and strength. The use of an adaptive trike is critical to supporting Max’s development and improving his quality of life by addressing these challenges in a fun but also therapeutic manner. An custom adaptive trike with features such as adaptive pedals, supportive seat, safety harness will allow Max to safely engage in the physical activity of cycling while working on his motor coordination, strength, and balance in a secure environment. Regular use of the trike will facilitate improved mobility, greater muscle strength, and enhanced motor skills. Have FUN, Max!!!! (fb)
