Many active and pending grants from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) were suddenly terminated. The president then proposed an FY26 budget that calls for the complete elimination of the NEA. This is not business as usual. On May 4, we received notification that our NEA grant supporting ArtsHERE had been terminated, effective May 31. In the face of these challenges, we remain committed to our mission and values, and to restoring the program’s original intent of strengthening organizations engaging with historically underserved communities and ensuring continued support for the New England organizations and artists it serves. But we cannot do this alone. Strength of community is what will power us through these times.
