In honor of National Police Week, the New England Association of Chiefs of Police (NEACOP) pays tribute to the unwavering dedication and sacrifice of our law enforcement officers across Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. In 2024, 147 officers nationwide lost their lives in the line of duty—a 25% increase from the previous year. Gunfire was the leading cause, claiming 52 officers, while traffic-related incidents saw the largest year-over-year rise. These sobering statistics underscore the growing challenges faced by law enforcement professionals. Yet, amidst these trials, officers continue to serve with courage and commitment, safeguarding our communities.
