In November, the City was notified that New Haven was one of 105 communities out of over 2400 submissions to get a $20 million EPA award. We then worked hard with EPA staff to refine the application to avoid any questions. Our notice of Award was approved January 17. But today after much back and forth, the grant is marked “terminated” by EPA, despite a pending law suit to compel the release of funds. Our experience is one small part of the wholesale retreat of our federal government from any effort to address climate change. Anyone concerned about how climate change will affect our community and our children’s future should show up at the No Kings rally on the Green this Saturday ( 3-5 PM), joining people in over 2500 communities nationally, to let the administration know that this is NOT OK.
