Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.” This legislation includes deep cuts to Medicaid, imposes new work requirements, and makes significant changes to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). Since its introduction, the Brain Injury Association of New York State has actively opposed this bill and worked to keep New York’s brain injury community informed and engaged. We stand in full support of the statement released by the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) and remain united in our commitment to make the voice of brain injury heard, loud and clear. We understand that this news brings concern and uncertainty. Please know that we are reviewing the bill in detail to better understand the full impact it may have on brain injury survivors, caregivers, families, and professionals.
