#TijuanaRiver Recap! 📣 💧 The attention on the Tijuana River is growing across the nation. The new administrator of the EPA, Lee Zeldin, visited San Diego to tour the Tijuana River Valley on Earth Day (April 22) and has since made bold promises to have the USIBWC make significant upgrades to treatment in the next 100 days. @sd_coastkeeper Executive Director, Phillip Musegaas, and partner at Tijuana Waterkeeper, Margarita Diaz, detailed the reality of the #TijuanaRiver sewage crisis in a powerful and insightful op-ed published in the San Diego Union Tribune for Earth Day. On April 16th, key stakeholders gathered for a press conference, hosted by @surfridersandiego and @un.mar.de.colores, announcing the Tijuana River’s new ranking as #2 Most Polluted River in America. #SeaLion pupping season is well underway here in San Diego, and the first baby sea lion of 2025 was born at the Pt. La Jolla sea lion rookery last week. 😍 Unfortunately, @sdsealsociety recorded multiple people getting too close to the pup, which could threaten the pup's survival. (Find the link in our bio to read our latest blog, which explains why keeping 50ft away can save a baby sea lion's life!) As more vulnerable pups and more selfie-taking tourists arrive this summer, @sdsealsociety may need more volunteers for peak periods. Training will be provided.
