We seek to foster greater appreciation of the choral art and to enrich the communities of Central Virginia. Historically, our repertoire is comprised of larger choral works with orchestra, such as Vivaldi's Gloria, masses of Mozart and Beethoven, and other works of merit, including new works and anthems from choral traditions old and new.

Spring 2025 In May 2025 the Central Virginia Masterworks Chorale will be performing Johann Sebastian Bachs St John Passion with soloists and orchestra. In this expressive work Bach set an anonymous text adapted from Barthold Heinrich Brockess poem Der fr die Snde der Welt gemartert und sterbende Jesus Jesus Martyred and Dying for the Sins of the World which is based on the Gospel of John. The Passion was written during Bachs first year as director of church music in Leipzig and first performed on Good Friday 1724. Concerts Richmond Friday May 16 700 p.
