Today on #FaithFullFriday, we reflect on the Holy Mystery of Marriage, one of the two Holy Mysteries of Service — the other being Holy Orders. These sacraments are not only for the sanctification of individuals but are oriented toward building up the Body of Christ through service — one through family life, the other through ordained ministry. Marriage is a sacred covenant and a divine vocation through which a man and a woman freely give themselves to one another in love, becoming a living icon of Christ and His Church. They are called to build a “domestic church” — a household where faith, hope, and love flourish. In the Eastern Catholic tradition Christ acts in the Mystery through the hands of the priest, visibly and actively bestows the grace of God. It reveals that the foundation of Christian marriage is not merely human promise, but divine power. 🤝 Betrothal, preceding Rite of Crowning, presents the couple publicly declaring their intention to marry. The priest places blessed rings on their hands — a sign of God’s love, which strengthens their own love and seals their promise. 📖 Then, in the Rite of Crowning placing their hands upon the Holy Gospel, the couple makes their vows before God. These are not just words — they are solemn promises of love, fidelity, and mutual honor in marriage. The couple commits to one another not only “until death,” but with a love strengthened and upheld by the grace of the Holy Spirit. 👑 After the vows, the priest blesses and places crowns upon the couple’s heads. These crowns carry deep meaning: 👉 They symbolize the dignity of man and woman, created in the image of God. 👉 They are also signs of martyrdom — the couple’s call to daily, sacrificial love in imitation of Christ, even unto death. The Rite concludes with a blessing in the name of the Most Holy Trinity, of whom the married couple becomes a visible icon. 💫 Marriage is a path of holiness, a journey of two souls walking together toward God — bearing each other’s burdens, sharing joys and struggles, and witnessing to the world that love rooted in Christ is eternal. ***** Сьогодні у #FaithFullFriday роздумуємо над Таїнством Подружжя — одним із двох Таїнств служіння, інше з яких — Священство. Ці святі таїнства не лише освячують окремих осіб, але й служать на збудування Тіла Христового: одне — через родинне життя, інше — через служіння в Церкві. Подружжя — це священний союз і Боже покликання, в якому чоловік і жінка добровільно дарують себе одне одному в любові, стаючи живим образом Христа та Його Церкви. Вони покликані створити «домашню Церкву» — місце, де панують віра, надія і любов. У Східній традиції у таїнстві Подружжя Христос діє через руки священника, який видимо закликає благодать Святого Духа на подружжя, показуючи, що основа християнського шлюбу — не лише людське слово, а Божа сила. 🤝 Перед Чином Вінчання звершуються Заручини, під час яких наречені публічно проголошують свій намір одружитися. Священник благословляє обручки й одягає їх на руки — як знак Божої любові, яка укріплює їхню взаємну любов і скріплює їхню обіцянку. 📖 У Чині вінчання наречені кладуть руки на Євангеліє та виголошують свої шлюбні обітниці перед Богом. Це урочисті обіцянки любові, вірності та взаємної пошани в подружжі. Вони зобов’язуються бути разом не лише «до смерті», а з любов’ю, зміцненою благодаттю Святого Духа. 👑 Після обітниць священник тричі благословляє і покладає вінці на голови подружжя. Ці вінці мають глибоке значення: 👉 Вони символізують гідність чоловіка і жінки, створених на образ Божий. 👉 Вони також є знаком мучеництва — покликання до щоденної жертовної любові, подібної до Христової, аж до смерті. Чин завершується благословенням в ім’я Пресвятої Тройці, образом якої покликане бути християнське подружжя. 💫 Подружжя — це шлях святості, подорож двох осіб, які крокують разом до Бога, несучи тягарі одне одного, ділячи радощі й труднощі, і свідчачи світові, що любов, укорінена в Христі, є вічною.
