This Saturday, June 14, is Hatfield Borough Founder’s Day, and it’s your one and only annual opportunity to view the historic Hatfield Borough jail! The single jail cell was incorporated into the Borough’s Electric Substation building when it was constructed in 1908. Two years later, the building was also used to store the Hatfield Vol. Fire Company’s first fire engine, a hand pulled chemical engine. The building is so unique that in 2016 it was placed on the Nation Register of Historic Places! The building will be open from 12-4pm. Stop in and see us! As folks desiring to "live in the country" moved to the suburbs in droves during the 1950's, Hatfield farm land started growing houses instead of crops. This c.1955 photo shows new houses on Oak Ave. and construction on Beech Street has just begun. That's the Oak Grove Trailer Park in the wooded area at the bottom left.
