Remembering Dave St. John ❤️ A public Open House Visitation for ESHOF board member and beloved Elgin sports supporter Dave St. John will be held Saturday, October 25th, from 1–4 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Elgin. Remembering Dave St. John – A True Friend of Elgin Sports ...a beloved hometown icon, longtime board member, and passionate supporter of athletics in our community. Dave’s lifelong dedication to sports began as a student-athlete at Elgin High School and grew into decades of service that touched nearly every level of local athletics. A fixture in "his spot" at countless football, basketball, baseball, and softball games, Dave became known as one of Elgin’s greatest super fans. His enthusiasm for both Elgin Maroons Athletics and Larkin Athletics & Activities earned him deep love and respect across the community. Dave’s contributions were formally recognized many times: Vic Masi Service Award '07, Induction into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame as a Friend of High School Basketball '05, Larkin High School Super Fan Award '88, Elgin Sports Hall of Fame Induction as a Friend of Sports '19. Since 1997, Dave faithfully served on the ESHOF Board of Directors helping shape the Hall of Fame into what it is today. His passing leaves a tremendous void in our community, but his legacy will continue to inspire athletes, fans, and volunteers for generations to come. Rest in peace, Dave.
