Happy EMS Week! 🚑 At Shore Medical Center, we’re incredibly grateful for the dedication, skill, and compassion of our EMS providers who serve our community around the clock. This week, we’re celebrating YOU — the first on the scene and an essential part of our healthcare family! To kick off EMS Week, our Emergency Department leadership — including Dr. William Schumacher, ER physician and Shore’s Medical Director of EMS, Sherri Richmond, RN, MSN, Administrative Director of Nursing for the ED, Pediatrics, and Respiratory, and Mike Smith, RN, BSN, Pediatric Nurse Liaison — teamed up with ZOLL Medical to visit four local EMS squads for a special training on ZOLL LifeVest wearable defibrillator. This device monitors patients at risk for sudden cardiac arrest and can deliver a shock if needed — something EMS may encounter in the field. Sherri shared: "It’s important for EMS providers to be familiar with the ZOLL LifeVest so they can quickly recognize it and understand what it does, and how to provide care to someone wearing one. Trainings like this help our EMS teams feel confident and prepared, and ensure we’re all working together to provide the best care possible to our community.” We’re proud to partner with our EMS providers and support your work through education and collaboration.
