Congratulations to Miami Valley Hospital's ECMO team for achieving the Platinum Level award for Excellence in Life Support by Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO). ELSO evaluates and recognizes centers that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to evidence-based processes and quality measures, staff training and continuing education, patient satisfaction, and ongoing clinical care. Our ECMO team delivers one of the most advanced forms of life support available for adults and children experiencing acute failure of the cardio-respiratory system. Their use of heart-lung machines to oxygenate the blood outside the body, allows time for our patients' lungs or heart to heal over a period of time.
