Meet Aaron Butler ‘26, a physics and music major from South Jordan, Utah, who spent the summer designing and building an "open harp," a musical instrument he was inspired to design thanks to the Brazilian Berimbau. Supported by an Emerson Foundation grant and empowered by our open curriculum, Aaron then composed a piece and developed a unique play style on the instrument. “It was the first time I worked on a design process and built that design, which gave me a lot of insight into what my strengths are as far as physics and math." Aaron says Hamilton’s open curriculum enabled him to pursue both his interests in physics and music. (fb)
