On this last day of school, we’re featuring our final Ripple Effect award presentation from earlier this month. We surprised Suzette Trapani in the Phillippi Shores IB World School cafeteria, where she typically can be found during lunch duty building relationships with students and fostering an atmosphere of respect and cooperation. Principal Holly Staley nominated Ms. Trapani “for the tremendous difference she makes within our school community.” As IB Coordinator, she plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience at Phillippi Shores. For teachers, she’s a beacon of professional development, leading engaging sessions on a range of topics. But her impact doesn’t stop there. She spearheads the school’s garden program (hence the pungent green pepper she was holding in these surprise photos!). She organizes an annual 5K event to raise funds and build community. She also coordinates Student of the Month activities, quarterly recognition events for students who meet positive behavior expectations, the Phillippi Shores News Network, and a range of field trips. Whew! “Suzette is one of the hardest-working people I know, always going above and beyond for our school,” Principal Staley concluded. “Phillippi Shores would not be the same without her.” 📸 Sarasota County Schools (fb)

We enjoyed surprising Rochelle Hilston with the Ripple Effect Teacher Award in front of her class of engaged and encouraging students at Woodland Middle School. In nominating her, Principal Mark Grossenbacher said, “Mrs. Hilston’s ability to lead with empathy, maintain academic rigor, and offer unwavering support during a difficult time for our school community speaks volumes about her character and commitment to her students. She is an outstanding educator who goes above and beyond to create a positive and supportive learning environment." He concluded, “I have no doubt she will continue to make a profound impact on the lives of all those she works with in the future.” Neither do we.
