Say hello to new foster Billie! After being found as a stray and ending up in a shelter, she is now settling into her foster home in Wisconsin and is ready to get on the road to recovery. This sweet girl was is heartworm positive and also is dealing with cauliflower ear, likely from prolonged infections. Heartworm is a serious and potentially fatal condition spread by mosquitoes when left untreated. She’ll soon begin a long and challenging treatment process involving multiple vet visits, injections, medications, and strict rest to keep her safe while the parasites are eliminated. Heartworm is 100% preventable with monthly medication, but once a dog is infected, treatment can tough and expensive.
