Christian Medical and Dental Associations (CMDA)
The Christian Medical and Dental Associations (CMDA) is a nonprofit professional association founded in 1931. It serves physicians, dentists, and other healthcare professionals, acting as a crucial resource for networking, education, and public advocacy.
Purpose and Mission
CMDA's mission is to "change hearts in healthcare" by motivating, educating, and equipping Christian healthcare professionals to serve with professional excellence as witnesses of Christ's love and compassion. It advances biblical principles in healthcare within the church and broader culture.
Structure
CMDA is composed of two constituent bodies: the Christian Medical Association (CMA) and the Christian Dental Association (CDA). The organization is governed by a Board of Trustees and a House of Delegates, which includes graduate, student, resident, and missionary members elected for three-year terms.
Programs and Services
CMDA provides a range of programs and services, including:
- Overseas Medical Mission Projects: Conducts medical education and evangelism projects globally.
- Student Ministries: Sponsors activities on over 270 medical and dental school campuses, engaging with thousands of students.
- Continuing Education: Offers resources for missionary healthcare workers, facilitating professional development.
- Academic Exchange Programs: Conducts international exchanges to enhance healthcare education.
- Marriage and Family Conferences: Hosts events focusing on family and relationships.
- Public Policy Advocacy: Addresses healthcare issues such as conscience rights, abortion, and assisted suicide through its Washington office.
Membership
As of recent updates, CMDA has a membership exceeding 15,000 healthcare professionals across diverse Christian denominations and evangelical movements. Members include physicians, dentists, and allied health professionals.
Governance and Operations
The organization operates with a staff of approximately 75 employees in its national and field offices, serving as a significant voice for Christian healthcare professionals nationally and internationally.

CMDA's service project for 2025 was volunteering at Agape Women's Services. Staff thoroughly enjoyed the chance to come together and support a local ministry as they serve women in our community. We love being able to give back and look forward to doing it again soon! (fb)
