We're excited to welcome a new event in Madison Square Park for this year's festival! "Soundscape for the Garden," which will be presented from 3:00pm–7:00pm, is an afternoon of piano music inspired by Lily Kwong's beautiful public artwork "Gardens of Renewal," currently installed on the park campus. Like Kwong's meditative pathway, the music will encourage contemplation and feature "native species" — music by composers who have flourished and bloomed in New York. The first portion of the program features student performers from the community, sponsored by the New York State Music Teachers Association (NYSMTA) District 1, Manhattan and the Bronx, and includes Roberto Sierra's "Album for the Young" played by multiple solo pianists. The program continues with the artists of The Village Trip Festival and more music to evoke a green space by New York composers. (fb)
