The Gainesville Environmental Film and Arts Festival, also known as Cinema Verde, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and education through film, arts, and community events. It is based in Gainesville, Florida.

- Awards and Recognition: Winning films are recognized through awards and are made available on Cinema Verde's streaming platform. Filmmakers receive VIP passes to festival events and a year's subscription to virtual screenings, though cash prizes are not currently offered.
- Community Engagement: The festival includes workshops, eco-tours, and discussions to engage participants and inspire sustainable business and lifestyle solutions.
Streaming Platform
Cinema Verde has developed its own eco streaming platform, offering access to a decade-long collection of environmental films. This platform allows filmmakers to showcase their work while participating in a payout-per-stream model.
Annual Festival
The festival typically takes place around Earth Day and features a lineup of films, filmmaker talks, and engaging environmental conversations, both in person and through online streaming for members.

With this idea we can pay more attention to the water and save it. 🎬Weathering Tides: Saving the Black Rail in South Carolina The Eastern Black Rail, a federally Endangered marsh bird, has declined by 90% since the 1990s due to habitat loss and rising seas. Without action, its East Coast population could vanish by 2070. In South Carolina’s ACE Basin, about 30 breeding pairs survive in historic impounded wetlands. A coalition of landowners, conservation groups, and agencies is pioneering water-level management to protect this fragile species. The Cornell Lab’s 13-minute film Weathering Tides showcases these partnerships and techniques, aiming to build the support needed to recover Black Rail populations along the Atlantic Coast.
