If you haven’t yet been on this behind-the-scenes Art Encounter mural tour, now is your chance! On Saturday, October 18 at 3 pm, Executive Director and @evanstonmuralartsprogram co-founder Lea Pinsky will take you on a guided tour to look closely at some of the large-scale artworks that have transformed Downtown Evanston over the past eight years. You’ll see our recently-completed, first-ever ground mural by Miguel A. Del Real, our largest mural to date by Max Sansing, and numerous other pieces by Shawn Bullen, Ruben Aguirre, Jeff Zimmermann, Anthony Lewellen, Molly Z., and Sholo Beverly. Hear stories about the artists, the artworks, and how the mural magic happens. We’ll also share what’s next for our Evanston Mural Arts Program! Did you know that we bring original artwork directly into schools as part of our curriculum with @chipubschools? This makes our programs unique among other arts partners, and we are always onboarding new artworks to keep our programs fresh and relevant for the schools and students we serve. Yesterday, our Teaching Artist Fall Meeting started with a deep dive into artist J. Allen Hyde’s “lemur” painting, where we explored the piece in-depth to develop questions for future school visits.
