This Fall, the Norwell Education Foundation funded a grant for the Cole School to purchase six copies of the best-selling book "The Anxious Generation" by Jonathan Haidt. The school encourages the parents of its students to borrow a copy of "The Anxious Generation" to learn more about the impact of smart phones and social media on our youth. Within the same grant, the NEF funded the purchase of the popular playground tool, Big Blue Blocks. Access to a selection of Big Blue Blocks encourages creative and imaginative play among and between students, focusing on "playful learning". The idea behind the blocks is to provide a counterbalance to the impact technology has on our children. Please join Principal Burns on November 7th at 7pm for a parent discussion on "The Anxious Generation", and learn ways to support and encourage each other and your students to take important steps to improve our relationship to smart phones and technology as a whole.
