A few photos from this morning's spring walk with the Brookdale Park Conservancy. Due to last night's storm, the volume of migrants was a bit underwhelming (here's the checklist:https://ebird.org/checklist/S233069729). We got some great looks at a pair of male Scarlet Tanagers and some of us were treated to a true Brookdale rarity--a Red-headed Woodpecker. The park is simply wonderful, thanks in large part to the folks at the Brookdale Park Conservancy. Big thanks to Beni and Fred! We had a total of 40 participants--mostly beginners. And many of the songbirds were either high up or hidden behind leaves. When it comes to birding, the one problem with this park is there's an awful lot of trees. (fb)
