Scott Last and Bill our Director of Acceleration, recently attended a conference of over 500 Central Asian leaders in Turkey called the Central Asia Consultation. It is made up of a growing number of Christian leaders from the Russian-speaking countries of the former Soviet Union. This number is astounding, considering that when Scott attended just a few years ago it was less than 300. There is a growing movement of new churches and believers in these countries, despite Muslim majorities that often openly persecute Christians. One of DCPI’s master trainers in Central Asia has been on the run from government authorities for preaching the gospel and planting churches, to the degree that he hasn’t been able to return to his country and family for nearly a year. He is married with 4 children. He just barely avoided arrest in a daring escape from a venue at which he was going to speak. KGB agents were waiting to take him away, but he hid beneath the stage until he could make his escape on foot, get to a car and eventually cross the border. Many lives have been changed through his ministry and his teams of young people have planted eight churches in 4 different nations.
