Overview
The WIFLE Foundation Inc. is a non-profit educational and research arm of Women in Federal Law Enforcement, Inc. It is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting the advancement of women in federal law enforcement through advocacy, education, and research.
History
The WIFLE Foundation was established in 2006 by Women in Federal Law Enforcement, Inc., which itself was founded in June 1999. Women in Federal Law Enforcement, Inc. evolved from the Interagency Committee on Women in Federal Law Enforcement (ICWIFLE), a task force created by the Office of Personnel Management in 1978 to address low female representation in federal law enforcement.
Mission
The WIFLE Foundation focuses on promoting excellence in federal law enforcement by supporting policies and practices that foster diversity and inclusivity. It provides opportunities for professional development, leadership training, mentorship, and networking to empower women in law enforcement careers.
Programs and Activities
- Annual Training Events: The foundation hosts annual leadership training events that attract participants from federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, as well as students in the criminal justice field.
- Scholarship Program: It offers scholarships to support the education and career development of women in law enforcement.
- Julie Y. Cross Memorial Golf Tournament: This event is part of its fundraising efforts for educational and community programs.
