THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU Promontory Foundation for your very generous 2024 Grant to Playing For Life Foundation! Playing for Life uses these funds to support and continue our Free Breast Screening/Mammogram program for locals who have been diagnosed as needing this procedure, but do not have the benefit of health insurance or the funds to cover the cost of this lifesaving procedure. If further diagnostic testing or screenings are found to be necessary after the initial breast exam and mammogram then Playing For Life funds will support those costs as well. This year our funds supported 364 wellness exams that include clinical breast exams, one on one women’s health education and referral services for mammograms and ultrasounds. We were able to provide referrals and support for 145 screening mammograms, 38 diagnostic mammograms and 28 ultrasounds. Our board continues to allocate funds for breast education and outreach to bring in more eligible locals to our screening program. One on one education with the provider includes discussions regarding how mammograms are recommended and who needs them, the efficacy of ‘self breast awareness’, the possibility of detecting benign breast disorders as well as family histories and the level of risk these might have. All funds we raise for this program will remain in Summit County for the benefit of our locals. The Playing for Life Foundation is honored to receive a Promontory Foundation grant that will help us in 2025 to continue this program that is so important to all of us and our community. Our foundation board is very proud of its accomplishments and we look forward to continuing our goals and reaching as many locals as possible that would otherwise not be able to pay for these necessary, preventative procedures.
