Thanks to the efforts of the Hughes Charitable Foundation, Jennie Gordon, First Lady of Wyoming and the Wyoming Hunger Initiative, we get the opportunity to come together as an anti-hunger community at the Southeast Wyoming Regional Summit. Tomorrow, board members will spend the day networking and learning from like-minded individuals and organizations, sharing our wins and lessons learned, and together continuing to fight Wyoming hunger. The event kicked off tonight with a dinner and outstanding volunteer recognition. Many of our volunteers stand out and make a difference every week. So, you can imagine the difficulty in picking just one volunteer. And that's why we didn't 😉 Holly and Jim Fisher are a dynamic duo who have devoted much time, energy, and love to the Friday Food Bag Foundation. They began volunteering with us about five years ago when we filled bags at Element Church. They followed us over to our new location and have become veteran volunteers that bring expertise and joy each week. As new volunteers join us, both Jim and Holly are very welcoming and take the time to help them. They are very patient and encouraging. Holly keeps us on track with numbers ensuring orders are ready for our drivers who pick up their bags on Tuesday. Jim is a jack of all trades. If there is a need, he is there to lend a hand. He often staples bags, has years of experience putting the bags on the shelves, and quickly jumps in to fill bags if all other jobs are filled. In addition to helping with Tuesday bag fills, Holly and Jim are drivers who have been delivering food bags to schools over the years. They have delivered to many schools including Sunrise, Rossman, Jessup, Coyote Ridge, and Hebard. You would think their giving would stop there, but no, there is more. For the last two years, they have donated colorful canvas bags that are used for the long break fills. These bags allow us to pack up extra and special food for Spring and Christmas breaks. These fills are big fills and all drivers pick up on the same night. Jim and Holly keep us on track with numbers and help ensure the drivers flow through the line quickly and efficiently. Last year Holly created beautiful ornaments to thank all our wonderful volunteers and provided delicious homemade fudge to our board members. The Friday Food Bag Foundation wouldn't be what it is today without the commitments of Holly and Jim. We are incredibly thankful they have chosen to volunteer with us and we are ecstatic to be able to honor them as the 2025 Friday Food Bag Foundation's Outstanding Volunteers. (fb)
