Not even picnic tables could stop us. DSBK hosted its annual Summer Shugyo (extended, intensive training) this Saturday, loaded with opportunities to rejuvenate the practice of peace through Aikido. We held a long morning meditation, breathing activation exercises, Aikido, Genkido, and some bokken and jo practice at a nearby park. Their parents signed liability release waivers... 💁🏽‍♂️ Actually, it's one of the universe's stanger phenomena: give kids sticks and they double down on focus and diligence in an effort to become really rad warriors. While at the dojo, students also learned about the history of the Samurai class and their unique approach to self-improvement by learning all the arts (not just martial ones). "This was the best hour of my life," one student exclaimed while putting his shoes back on. It's a joy sharing this unusual martial way with others.
