Congratulations to Lupus Warrior LaShon Gurrola! Lupus warrior and support group leader LaShon Gurrola celebrated receiving her long-awaited Doctor of Healthcare Administration (DHA) degree from the Virginia University Lynchburg. Those of us who know LaShon are not surprised to learn that she persevered with her education despite overcoming obstacles and tragedies to achieve this goal. LaShon has been driven to succeed since she received her certified nurse’s aid (CNA). She worked hard and raised a family as she continued her education. The last semester of her DHA, she was hospitalized with heart complications from lupus. Despite her challenging health and academic responsibilities, LaShon used her experiences to help others in the lupus community, including hosting an educational webinar on lupus and heart health. LaShon is an inspiration to everyone who meets her.
