After losing his leg to osteogenic sarcoma, a rare bone cancer, he ran 3,339 miles over 143 days to raise awareness and donations for cancer research. 🧬 Today, we launch our appeal to outsmart melanoma and save more lives. Melanoma, the most dangerous type of skin cancer, affects around 16,000 people each year in the UK. When diagnosed early, it can often be cured. But once the disease has spread to other parts of the body, it becomes much harder to treat. That’s why Professor Chris Bakal and his team are leading pioneering research to understand how melanoma cancer cells spread around the body. 💻 Using a powerful new AI tool, they can see how cancer cells respond to different treatments by analysing subtle changes in their 3D shape. This ground-breaking research could pave the way for new drugs, bringing hope to people living with melanoma.
