Sophia’s LEAP story began years ago as a participant through our partnership with OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. This year, she returned in a new role as a Guide Intern, kicking off our first program of the season on the Lower Deschutes River in June, and returning for two more programs to refine her craft. We are grateful to the Oregon State Marine Board Waterway Access Grant Program for helping make this possible. Partial funding was provided through investments from permit fees paid for nonmotorized boats 10 feet long or longer, making waves of impact for future guides like Sophia. #MentorshipMatters #LEAP #WaterwayAccess (fb)

LEAP Program Participant Profile Kotah Kuneki CultureSeed The LEAP Experience LEAP creates opportunities for healing and growth through immersive wilderness programs that support people affected by significant health issues psychological distress and socioeconomic adversity. Our fiveday whitewater kayaking experiences on the Lower Salmon River in Idaho and the wild and scenic Lower Deschutes River in Oregon connect individuals to the therapeutic qualities of nature while encouraging them to harness their strength and recognize their innate value and abilities. We maximize our impact by organizing each program around groups with shared life experiences enabling them to foster closeknit communities and thrive in an environment of mutual understanding and openness.
