What does renewable energy and Kosher electricity have to do with Israel’s future? Matan Shitrit is a doctorate student at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev's Faculty of Management, researching renewable energy and its effect on Israel’s electricity market. His work even explores the phenomenon of “Kosher electricity” and how communities, like the Haredi sector, can accelerate Israel’s transition to clean energy. But he does not stop at research. In his senior role at the General Municipal Company of Dimona, he actively develops renewable energy projects that not only reduce pollution but also create new economic opportunities in Israel’s south. For Matan, public service is a calling. His vision is to hold meaningful roles where he can shape policy, promote sustainability, and improve the lives of Israelis. With ISEF’s support, Matan can pursue his doctorate while driving social, economic, and environmental impact.
