Once you walk under the North America Trek region arch and round the corner, there they are - Mexican gray wolves, North America’s rarest gray wolf and a symbol of resilience in the wild. Once nearly extinct in the wild, Mexican gray wolves survived thanks to the dedication of zoos and conservation partners. Today, they’re slowly making a comeback—and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is proud to be part of that journey. This week, in honor of Wolf Awareness Week, we’re celebrating the seven Mexican gray wolves in our care: Nicolas, Mosby, Sonda, Kazoo, Ikal, Winter, and Storm.
