The AWIU Chicago Chapter hosted a vibrant membership meet-up in Evanston, IL — and it was a wonderful success! Members and prospective members gathered in the home of Marsha Niazmand, AWIU Grant Committee co-chair, for an evening of connection, conversation, and community building. This event was a true team effort: ✨ Mary Pat Garr, acting Chicago chair and Grant Committee co-chair, and Amy Ewaldt planned and organized the evening. ✨ Llui Montero and Paula Cofresi-Silverstein helped spread the word and invite guests. ✨ Attendees contributed hors d’oeuvres, making it a warm, shared experience. A highlight of the night was welcoming our newest member, Nancy Su — a wonderful addition to the AWIU community. 🌍 COIR 2025 Speaker Spotlight: Katherine Norton American Women for International Understanding is delighted to welcome Katherine Norton, Director of Career Learning and Experiences at The George Washington University’s Center for Career Services, as a panelist for our 2025 Conversations on International Relations symposium. Katherine leads a team of career coaches dedicated to helping students in fields spanning STEM, health, international affairs, government, and the arts build meaningful professional paths. Her work has strengthened alumni mentorship, expanded global recruiting, and fostered career readiness across disciplines. Katherine has supported U.S. service members abroad in Japan and Germany through major career transitions — experience that continues to inform her perspective on resilience and growth.
