The Self-Insured Lumber Businesses Association (SILBA) recently announced that $322,368 would be returned to qualifying group members for the 2024 plan year. Created in 1993, SILBA was formed as a non-profit corporation that functions as a workers' compensation insurance company. It is owned, controlled, and run for the benefit of its members. All profits (dollars remaining after the payment of claims and operating expenses) of SILBA are ultimately returned to the members in the form of premium refunds. Since inception, SILBA has issued premium refunds totaling $26,753,932 based on exceptional historical claim performance. This figure represents 21% of all premiums collected.
