The SC Rosenwald Schools Trail Study Team presented a final report presentation at the St. George Rosenwald School. This 18th month effort led by WeGOJA Foundation and Conservation Voters of South Carolina hired Earth Design, Inc and Oral Historian, Dr. Valinda Littlefield, to engage with five schools and one Teacherage to determine the feasibility of establishing a historic trail. The final report will be sent to the SC Department of Archives and History by the end of June. Special thanks to the St. George Rosenwald School Board and staff and Lee's Catering for ensuring our event was truly special. Telling the full story of African American Heritage in South Carolina The WeGOJA Foundation formerly the South Carolina African American Heritage Foundation works to document and promote African American heritage sites in South Carolina like Zion Baptist Church in Columbia pictured above the 1929 congregation. Supporting state historical markers listings on the National Register of Historic Places teachers guides and the Green Book of South Carolina WeGOJA collaborates with civic government and business leaders to Preserve Our Places in History. The next quarterly meeting of the WeGOJA Foundation Board of Directors will be held virtually in Mid January 2025.
