Louise…aka Lou will be returning to UW Madison Oncology Service in the next several weeks for her 3 month recheck. This gorgeous girl from our friends at A Purposeful Life Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, underwent surgery for a cutaneous melanoma in December. The procedure was successful and had clean but narrow margins on her right hind lower limb. Lou is living large at a very active and happy 15 years of age in her foster home…with me! (Jan)! She is pictured here with my little two-legged Sprite who also is a former CC patient over 9 years ago! Sprite was a foster fail on my part! (I have adopted 100% of every foster dog that has come into my home…and proud of it)! Lou..do you hear that girl? You are not going anywhere, sweetie! Keep living large!❤️🐾 (fb)

Beautiful Hudson came to Critter Crusaders of Cedar Rapids this past November with a severe fracture of the base of his tail. This is a very significant injury, as any tail fracture is actually a fracture of the spine. The closer to the very base of the tail, the more severe the injury, increasing complications from surgery. In dogs and cats, a bundle of very important nerves resides in the rump area and if disturbed through injury or surgery, the result can be fecal incontinence. That was one of the risks, among others associated with Hudson’s surgery at Iowa State University Hixson-Lied Small Animal Hospital. Hudson has done absolutely wonderfully since his procedure and though he has no tail, for whatever reason, he grew the most adorable set of bunny ears as a replacement! Hudson is available for adoption through our great friends at the Humane Society of Northwest Iowa! We love this boy!❤️🐾 (fb)
