❣️ Food for Thought 2025: Where Individual Support Meets Big Dreams at Flynn Elementary At @flynnelementary’s Extended Day Program, Program Director Zoila Bonilla and Assistant Program Director Gisselle Ortega are proving that when you meet each student’s individual needs, incredible things happen. “We work as a team - teachers, families, and staff - to ensure that every student has the support they need to succeed,” explains the Flynn team. Their approach combines structured academic blocks in literacy and math with twice-weekly enrichments covering everything from fashion design to soccer to art. This year brings exciting innovations: a new Wellness Coordinator is expanding their social-emotional learning focus, helping students not just grow as learners but as individuals who can manage emotions, build relationships, and work through challenges. They’re also launching a math pilot program in two after-school classes that takes a personalized approach through teacher-led activities and engaging tools. “What’s particularly exciting is that the pilot will allow us to see how a more personalized approach can help students deepen their understanding and build confidence in math,” shares the team. The impact goes beyond test scores. Food for Thought donations provide everything from books and art materials to outdoor equipment and field trips.
