MANTA SHIP LOG - DAY 12 June 29, 2025 BVI Expedition #2 on Research Vessel DayDream Chief Scientist - Beda Lundstedt Today kicked off with a slow start- after some breakfast the crew hit up the dive shop to grab spare tanks and basked in the glory of foxy’s gift shop. After assessing the conditions, we decided against our dive as water was too choppy. We opted for a short hike to the bubbly pool instead. The bubbles were minimal, but the damsel fish were maximal, and they were giving us a first class exfoliation treatment (biting the dead skin off our toes) free of charge! (fb)

MANTA SHIP LOG - DAY 11 June 28, 2025 BVI Expedition #2 on Research Vessel DayDream Chief Scientist - Sydney Halvorsen We dove at Brewer’s point today. It was the last dive necessary for our advanced certifications, we were diving at a max depth of 70 feet. Shortly after descending, Rusty’s group ran into two sleeping nurse sharks with their tails crossed. One of them then swam right by Rusty’s face! After the dive, everyone was excited about receiving their advanced certifications. Then we sailed to Jost Van Dyke and took the dinghy into the dive shop to fill up the air tanks so we could dive tomorrow. We remained anchored there for the rest of the day, which we spent by playing games, listening to music, hanging out, and having our daily lecture on lionfish. After that, everyone got ready to go to Foxy’s for dinner, then we went on land and enjoyed a delicious meal at Foxy’s. (fb)
