The Downers Grove Historical Society and the Downers Grove Museum are happy to announce that The John Rehm Jr. House at 1219 Ross Court has been officially approved for the Historic Home Program. This home is an example of Minimal Traditional architecture, a style that emerged in the mid-20th century. With its clean lines, rectangular footprint, and modest hipped roof, the home captures the beauty of simplicity. A front-facing gable extends over the entryway, adding a touch of charm and a warm, welcoming presence. Congratulations and thank you to Don Sutton for researching and submitting his application for The John Rehm Jr. House. Another piece of Downers Grove history recognized for future generations. The Downers Grove Historic Home Program is separate and distinct from the Village of Downers Grove Historic Preservation Program. The Downers Grove Historic Home Program is strictly honorary and does not limit the homeowner from making external alterations to the home. Additionally, the program does not qualify homeowners for any type of financial incentives such as property tax assessment freezes or tax rebates.
