#FeatureFriday📸Introducing the 2025 Star in Agriscience, Salyn Meas of Lakeside-El Capitan FFA!⭐ Salyn has successfully completed four agriscience projects. The first project was titled “Aquaponics vs. Conventional Farming: A Comparison on Efficiency for Swiss Chard.” This experiment compared the growth rates of Swiss Chard grown in an aquaponic system and in soil. The second project was entitled, “The Effect of Blade Quantity and Angle on Wind Production,” which aimed the determine the best combination of blade angle and quantity for a wind turbine. The third project, “The Effect of Food Labeling on Public Preference,” included a blind taste test of organic and non-organic apple juice to see how labels affect the appeal of the juice. The final project, “The Effect of Natural Curing Agents on the Attributes of Bacon,” took three natural curing agents and compared their effects on the taste, color, and shelf life of bacon to the traditional curing agent, sodium nitrite.
